Student Volunteers of Monterey County Free Libraries
In the giving spirit that Fran McFadden brought to Monterey County, FMCFL sponsors a scholarship program for volunteers of the Monterey County Free Libraries. Any student, who has spent time volunteering within the Monterey County Free Libraries system can apply, providing:
- They are enrolling or are enrolled in an established institute of continuing education. This includes 4 year and 2 year colleges/universities, trade and adult schools.
- They have served as a volunteer to a Monterey County Free Libraries during the period from January 1, 2015 to April 1, 2015 and have more than 20 hours of service.
- They are not a family member of any FMCFL board member.
The scholarship is a one time $1000 grant to assist students with continuing education expenses. Applicants must have a letter of recommendation from a member of the Monterey County Free Libraries staff, a required essay and have completed the necessary application. All applications and accompanying documentation must be postmarked by May 1, 2015. The applications will be reviewed by the FMCFL scholarship committee.
