Lights, Camera, Auction!
King City raises funds for Foundation for Monterey County Free Libraries
King City – Lights, Camera, Auction! the first King City fundraiser for the Foundation for Monterey Country Free Libraries, will probably become an annual event. Thank you to all the donors and attende
es who made this a memorable evening!
On Monday, June 27, Doug Lumsden of Monterey Movie Tours entertained theatergoers in the King City Cinema with clips from old and new movies shot around Monterey County. Many theatergoers then attended the after-party at the Cork & Plough. Both venues
were absolutely perfect for this event – attendees were delighted with seeing historical footage of Monterey County and movie stars both past and present. The Cork & Plough went all out with preparing appetizers that were as filling as any meal, paired with local wines and movie themed cocktails.
Many local library supporters, merchants and organizations donated goods and services for the silent auction. Words used to describe the evening were social, engaged, relaxing, fun! Needed funds were raised for south county library programs, such as the Summer
Reading program that attracts children, teens and adults to read, learn and be entertained throughout the summer months.
The end result of this feel-good evening was requests that it continue. And so, the Board of Directors of the Foundation approved another event next year and planning is underway.
