Join us for Love, Your Library, a special luncheon celebrating the people who make our libraries stronger. Together, we will mark an exciting new chapter for Monterey County Free Libraries. The Pajaro Library is reopening after a three-year flood-related closure. Two new libraries are also moving forward in Bradley and East Garrison.
We’re delighted to welcome Alison van Diggelen as our keynote speaker. The local author of The Love Project will join us for an afternoon of stories, conversation, and connection.
Whether you’re a longtime supporter or just getting to know us, we’d love to welcome you. Come celebrate our libraries and discover how your support can open doors to literacy, learning, and opportunity throughout Monterey County.
Tickets are $100 per person. All proceeds support literacy and libraries in Monterey County.
Sunday, October 18th, 11:30 a.m.- 2 p.m.

Alison van Diggelen, Keynote speaker
Alison van Diggelen is the author of The LOVE Project, a journey that began with a simple question: “What does love mean to you?” Her intimate conversations with Monterey County locals explore love and loss, and the surprising ways they can bring a community closer. Named an Editor’s Pick by Publishers Weekly BookLife and praised by Kirkus Reviews for celebrating “the courage it takes to live with an open heart,” The LOVE Project has struck a chord with readers near and far. A contributor to the BBC World Service, Alison has given lectures and led workshops internationally, but her greatest inspiration comes from volunteering in the classroom at Rancho Cielo, where her students’ tenacity and big dreams remind her of the power of hope.
“ I love Libraries because they remind us of the power of stories to open hearts, spark curiosity and bring communities together. “
