Lisa Crawford Watson

The Stories That Shape Us — and the Libraries That Help Us Tell Them

A fifth-generation Northern Californian, Lisa Crawford Watson belongs to one of three sets of twins in a dynamic family—often the source of her writing. With an undergraduate degree in Sociolinguistics from UC Davis, a Master's degree in Education Administration from, Sacramento State, and a post-secondary teaching credential, she has enjoyed a diverse career in business, educating and writing.

Lisa lives with her family on the Monterey Peninsula, where her grandmother once lived and wrote. An adjunct writing instructor for CSU Monterey Bay and Monterey Peninsula College, she also is a freelance writer, who has published thousands of feature articles and columns in local and national newspapers and magazines, plus several books, including, “What We Wished For: An Adoption Story.”

  • Claudia Melendez

    AUTHOR

    Claudia Meléndez Salinas is an award winning journalist, poet and author. Her first book, “A Fighting Chance,” was published by Arte Público Press in 2015. In 2017 she co-founded Voices of Monterey Bay, a bilingual internet magazine for California's central coast. Her poetry has been published in several outlets, including Somos Xicanas, a national anthology of Chicana poetry.

  • Kathryn Gualtieri

    AUTHOR

    Author and historian based in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California. She is best known for her Nora Finnegan Mysteries, an eight-book series that began with Murder in the Pines (2010). Drawing on her deep knowledge of California history, Kathryn brings to life the charm and intrigue of the Central Coast through her storytelling.

  • Nicki Ehrlich

    AUTHOR

    Nicki’s debut novel, Ellis River, won two Benjamin Franklin Awards from the Independent Book Publishers Association, was a semi-finalist for the Publishers Weekly Booklife Prize, a finalist for the Eric Hoffer First Horizons Award, and received an Honorable Mention for the Eric Hoffer Grand Prize. Her sequel, Zephyr Trails, won a gold Independent Publishers Book Award.

    Living a life engrossed in the visual and written arts has allowed author Peter Hiller to express his creativity through his own art, and to share that experience with students during a teaching career of almost forty years. His discovery of the world of Jo Mora opened new doors of interest as he endeavored to uncover Mora’s seemingly endless creative abilities and accomplishments. Peter is here after almost thirty years of striving to understand and appreciate this important artist including penning Mora’s biography The Life and Times of Jo Mora: Iconic Artist of the American West.
